He was predeceased by : his parents, Kenneth W. Black and Edith Lowry Black; and his sister Barbara Brown. He is survived by : his nephew Robert W. Brown, Jr. (David A. Brown); his wife Carolyn Coulter; his son Travis Black; his pet Crow Creek Sugarbaby; his brother Bruce Black (Patricia Bass); his former life partner Paula Prutsman; and also Kris Uhler. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and cousins.

“I knew Ken back in the early 80's - I worked for a DVM that took care of his pets (including cute little "Blink"). He also really helped me out, when, as a person in my mid twenties - was faced with a lawsuit against me (involving my dog)& I was scared & worried to death... he talked with me & gave me good counsel & eased my fears. I will always remember his kindness & comforting way... it really meant alot to me! I also remember his laugh. He was a good man. My condolences to his family.”
