He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Turvill; his children, Donald Gerken (Gail Griffith) of Clayton, CA and Katherine Nelson (Jason) of St. Petersburg, FL.; and his grandchildren, Lauren Gerken (Kathleen Cherry) of New York, NY and Christopher Gerken (Natalie Cedillo) of West Sacramento, CA..
Visitation was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Mason-White Funeral Home (20 Valley Forge Dr, Washington, IL 61571). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 6:00 PM and on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, September 30th 2025 at 1:42 PM at the Hillcrest Memory Gardens (21925 Washington Rd, Morton, IL 61550).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Shriners Hospital for Children or to the American Cancer Society.
