The memory of Carol L. Monterusso of Waterloo, Illinois, born in East Saint Louis, Illinois, who passed away on July 19, 2025 at the age of 84, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her husband Anthony "Tony" Monterusso, Sr.; her daughters, Angela Joseph and Jacqueline Monterusso; her parents, Marion Gray, Sr. and Lois Hussey; her parents-in-law, Anthony Monterusso and Katherine Monterusso Schumer; her stepfather-in-law Ivo Schumer; her siblings, Eileen Sanders, Linda Summers (Al), Barbara Jean Mowery, Shirley Johnson (J. M.), Sharon Durley (Terry) and Marion "Skip" Gray, Jr.; and her siblings-in-law, Williams Klaus, Karl Klaus, Katherine Drury (Jack) and Bridget Peake (Harry).
She is survived by: her children, Ross Monterusso (Karen), Linda Clifton (Jay), Connie Brydon (Herb), David Monterusso (Karen), Anthony Monterusso (Courtney), Ronald Monterusso (Glenda), Steven Monterusso and Sheri Mergenthaler (Timmy); her son-in-law Ralph Joseph; her sisters, Janice Pasnokat and Sandie Groom; her sisters-in-law, Patricia Klaus and Nancy Klaus; and her close friends, Mike, Debbie Barbee, Brian, Lisa Boerm and John Bachman. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Faith Baptist Church (405 E Main St, Belleville, IL 62220).
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 305 S. Illinois Street, Belleville, Illinois 62220 or to Faith Baptist Church, 405 East Main Street, Belleville, Illinois 62220.
