He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Eckert and Anita Eckert; his spouse Gustavia Eckert; his son Glen; his brothers, Roy and James; his siblings-in-law, Ardell and Mary; and his nephew James Touchette.
He is survived by: his daughters, Marlou Eckert (Mark Raeber) of Millstadt and Diane Kern (Ken) of Waterloo; his daughter-in-law Nancy Eckert (Randy Battas) of Waterloo; his great grandchildren, Angela Wirth (William), Nora and William of Waterloo; his grandchildren, Casey Eckert (Jean), Sophie, Ellie, Maggie of Afton, Kendal Simon (Grant) and Deklan of Gowrie Junction, Australia.; his niece Royanne Touchette; his nephew Randy Eckert (Donna) of Millstadt; and his great-nephew Patrick Touchette (Elizabeth Schrader) of New Athens.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul United Church of Christ (200 N Main St, Waterloo, IL 62298). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 1st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: St. Paul United Church of Christ - Waterloo or Millstadt Senior Center.
