With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Gary Roy Altes of Waterloo, Illinois, born in Saint Louis, Missouri, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland P. Altes and Vera Altes. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Altes; his children, Matthew Altes, Karen Augustine Altes, Bradley Altes, Lucas Altes (Cindy) and Breanna Parrott (Dan); and his grandchildren, Andy, Catie, Maggie, Sophia, Vivian, Rosie and Jonathan. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church (522 S Church St, Waterloo, IL 62298).
As an expression of sympathy, the family prefers memorial contributions to: Camp Wartburg or Immanuel Lutheran Preschool.
