It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol A. Althoff of Watson, Illinois, who passed away on October 22, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the quiet moments of reflection, amidst the gentle rustle of leaves and the whispered song of the stars, we shall carry Carol's memory with us, a guiding light illuminating the path ahead. May Carol's journey be filled with peace and serenity, and may she find rest in the embrace of eternity.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Schmidt and Beulah Schmidt (Hutchen); and her brothers, Arthur Schmidt and Darrell Schmidt. She is survived by: her husband David Althoff; her son Devin Althoff (Megan); and her grandsons, Loren Althoff and Wade Althoff.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St John's Lutheran Church (901 W Jefferson Ave, Effingham, IL 62401). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Lutheran Care Center in Altamont or St. John's Lutheran Church in Effingham.
