It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruby N. Winfrey (Waukegan, Illinois), who passed away on September 11, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Ruby has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lola Harrison and Willy Harrison. She is survived by: her husband James E. Winfrey (Bunny); her child Rev. Tyrrell E. Winfrey; her niece Melodie; her friend Kitt Lindsey; and her cousin Rose Marie Casey. She is also survived by nieces and nephews and play daughters.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (2219 Audrey Nixon Blvd, North Chicago, IL 60064). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery (33100 N Hunt Club Rd, Gurnee, IL 60048).
