He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mildred Higgins and Lyman Higgins; his spouse Laurie; his children, Jenaeth Markaj, Easten Niphakis (Micah), John Higgins (Jillian) and Emma Morris (Robert); his grandchildren, Marin, Jude, Briasson, Corin, Ella, Connor, Everett, Lola Bea, Welles, Lucy and Isla; and his sisters, Yvonne, Joyce and Marilyn.

So rewarding was his tax practice and so meaningful were his relationships with his clients that retiring due to Parkinson's disease and cancer was difficult.
