Walter Robert Burau Obituary
On October 18th Wally (Walter) Robert Burau's fight with a Glioblastoma (GBM) brain tumor ended while surrounded by his family at their home of 38 years in Winfield, IL. Wally was born on February 7th, 1956 in Elmhurst, IL and grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL. He is preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and several aunts and uncles that he was very close to.
He is survived by his wife Sandy, five kids Travis (Bridgett), Brandy Morris (Daniel), Wes (Michaela) Destiny and Justin; mother, Edna; eight brothers and sisters, Dorothy Frantin (Phil), Steve (Beth), Chuck, Jeanne, Tom (Linda), Cindy, Meg and Susie Bailey (Mike); six grandkids, Austin and Colton Morris, Max, Lizzie, Jackson, Carter, Mackenzie, and Stella; bother-in-law Mike Swearingen, sister-in-law Teri Swearingen, and many other nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great nieces that he loved dearly.
Wally was always active in his kids' sports and often could be found on the sidelines. Nothing mattered to him more than family. When Wally wasn't coaching his kids sports you could usually find him hunting or fishing. For most of his adult life he enjoyed playing hockey and riding saddle bronc in the annual DuPage County Fair Rodeo.
He will be remembered for his humor and willingness to help anyone. Wally (aka Pops to his kids) never met a stranger and left an impression on everyone he met. Wally was very adamant of having a celebration of life event, which will not be a surprise to the ones that knew him. This will be held at Arlington Ale House in Arlington Heights, IL located at 111 W. Campbell St, Third Floor, Arlington Heights, IL 60005: (224) 735-2450 on Saturday October 24th between 1 and 4 pm.
