He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Schmidt and Margarete Schmidt; and his brother Steve. He is survived by: his children, Lisa Merritt (Matthew), Michael Schmidt and Laura Smith (Nicholas); and his sister Melitta Tharp (Royce). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
