He was predeceased by: his parents, John Monroe and Lillian Essick (Manion); his wife Janice Elaine Reed; his children, Bradley Essick and Laura Ice; his sisters, Carol Ann Striegel and Emma Lou Shelton; and his grandson Bradley Essick.
He is survived by: his daughter Amy Reed (Dan) of Cambria; his son-in-law Larry "Worm" Ice of West Frankfort; his grandchildren, Amanda Essick, Mary Essick, Cassandra Gunter (Eric), Stephen Slimak, Dallas McGrady, Bailey Misener and Alexis Misener; his great grandchildren, Gage, Addison, Henry, Anna Kate, Karter, Skyler and Tatum; and his brother John "Jack" Essick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
