He was predeceased by: his parents, George Garifalis and Tasia Garifalis; his sister Harriet Vasilakis (Nick Vasilakis); and his brothers-in-law, George Verven, George Psihogios and Louie Papadopoulos.

He is survived by: his children, George, Anastasia "Anna" Angelos (John) and Nick (Vicky); his wife Marianthi Garifalis (Papadopoulos); his sister Helen Verven of Houston, Texas; his sister-in-law Flora Psihogios; his grandchildren, Angelo (Christina), Peter (Ana), Leonidas, Jacob, Arianna and Marianthe; and his great grandchildren, Anastasia and Yianni.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church (2501 S Wolf Rd, Westchester, IL 60154). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
