He was predeceased by: his parents, Stephen Young and Mary Crane Young; his wife Katherine Retherford; his siblings, Edgar Young, Melvin Young, Elknah Young, Donald Young, Roy Young, Maxine Sweetin, Mary Louis Thaxton, Doris Wedding and Margaret Tucker; and his son-in-law Brad Ward.
He is survived by: his children, Donna Pyatt (Jack) of Carrollton, Donald Young (Carolyn) of Brighton, Ricky Young (Cheryl) of Eldred, Cindy Featherstone (Jim) of Rockbridge and Regina Ward of White Hall; his grandchildren, Jason Young, Jamie Wiegand, Paul Young, Tasha Barnd, Tonya Krueger, Nick Holmes, Jenny Milnes and Kaitlyn Ward; and his sister Frances Summers of Jerseyville. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren.
