He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Shoemaker and Eleanor Shoemaker; his wife Nancy Shoemaker; his brother Robert Shoemaker; and his daughter Jo El Shoemaker.

He is survived by: his children, Carl Shoemaker (Karen) of Manteno, Christen Longfellow (Dave) of Portage and Amy Shoemaker of Steubenville, Ohio; and his brother-in-law Don Harsh of Columbus, Ohio. He is also survived by six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wishes of the family.
