He was predeceased by : his parents, Dorothee Johnstone and Gordon Johnstone. He is survived by : his wife Stacey Johnstone; his children, Nicholas Johnstone (Katy Wheeler) of Channahon, Garrett Johnstone (Kelly) of Camden and Katherine Johnstone of Bradley; his granddaughter Kaya Johnstone; and his siblings, Linda Johnstone of Carol Stream, Mark Johnstone (Kim) of Freeport and Jim Johnstone (Denice) of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
