He is survived by: his children, Michael Bates (Lorrie) of Kettering and Kimberly Miller (Eric) of Carol Stream; his grandchildren, Nate Miller (Rachael), Tim Bates (Sara), Luke Miller and Lily Bates; his brother Gerald Bates (Darlynn); his brother-in-law Jerry Morgan; his nieces and nephews, Kevin Bates (Michele), Denise Flynn, Bryan Bates (Janet), Shannon Locke (Albert), Cindya Hills (Roger), Antoinette LaVere (Ken), Gary Morgan, Benjamin Morgan, Marissa Binkowksi (Rick) and Scott Morgan; Lake Huron.
