John leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. John’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew John will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Wedin and Helen Wedin (Johnson). He is survived by: his wife Diane Hanke; his children, Michael Wedin (Kelly) of Simpsonville, SC and Kari Wedin of Simpsonville, SC; his grandchild Chandler Rushing (Harley); his great grandchild Jack; his grandchild Sydney Funderburk (Coleman); and his sister Karen Bernotas.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Rascals Bar & Grill (5223 Torque Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers.
