He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Jimmy and Ella Miller; his parents, Willie Standridge and Wada Standridge; and his brother-in-law Gerald Holcomb.

He is survived by: his wife Connie Standridge (Reisner) of Winthrop Harbor, IL; his children, Mike McDowell (Donna) of Zion, IL, Mark McDowell (Ruth) of Manila and Michelle Standridge (Wayne Mitchell II) of Lindenhurst, IL; his grandchildren, Dan McDowell, Jen DeLuca (George), Dave McDowell (Emilie), Rainbow Garner (Chris) and Gloria McDowell; his great grandchildren, Zaiah, Arlie, George, Julia, Evie, Zeph, Aramis and Malachi; his sister Betty Holcomb; and his nieces, Annette Wilson, Diana Keith and Lisa Venturino.
