He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Schaefer and Angela Schaefer (Schroeder); his former wife Sharon Turkington; his wife Judy Schaefer of Wolf Lake; his children, Bill Schaefer of Austin, TX, Roger Levan (Angie) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Hunter Levan of Nashville, TN, Cody Levan (Marian) of Oran, MO, Lisa File of Indianapolis, IN and Natalie McCarty of Carbondale; his grandchildren, Shelby, Roger III, Jase, Leo, Dylan, Jameson Levan, Elijah, Payton McCarty and Alyson; his siblings, Joan Fisher of Thebes, Susan Evers of Holts Summit, MO, Bob Schaefer of Frankenstein, MO, Eugene of Wolf Lake, Dick Schaefer of Wolf Lake and Tom Schaefer (Susan) of Columbia, MO; his daughter Christy Lynn Schaefer; his siblings, Elizabeth "Bets" Thoenen, Lillian Luckenotte and Albert Schaefer; and his siblings-in-law, Ed Thoenen, Jim Luckenotte, Leo Fisher, Jim Evers, Esther and Kay Schaefer. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christy Lynn Schaefer Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Wolf Lake Community Park.
