He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin A. Thien and Lestine M. Thien (French); his wife Julia Weihe; his brother Eric Thien; and his sister-in-law Rosella Thien.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jill Ellis of East Peoria, IL and Andrea Bolitho (Jonathan) of Melborne, FL; his grandchildren, Chayton, Audrey Ellis, Caleb and Nolan Bolitho; his brothers, Leslie "Wayne" Thien (Becky) of St. Louis and Douglas Thien of Wood River; and his sister-in-law Debbie Thien of Wood River.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Marks Mortuary (633 E Lorena Ave, Wood River, IL 62095). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
