Gary Fairless Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gary Fairless of Wood River, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 5, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Gary leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Gary may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Christopher Columbus and Myrtle Fairless (Bockholdt); his wife Rita J. Heck; his stepmother Anna Fairless; and his brother Bill Fairless.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Fairless (Cathy) of Wood River, Terry Fairless (Nancy) of Wood River and Jodi Witcher (Ron) of New Douglas; and his sister Carol Luketich of Gillespie. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Marks Mortuary (633 E Lorena Ave, Wood River, IL 62095).
