It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Butkovich of Wood River, Illinois, who passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though his name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint James leaves upon the hearts of his loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of his spirit and the richness of his legacy.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Butkovich and Dorothy "Eloise" Butkovich (Evans). He is survived by: his sister Nancy Ringering (Dave) of Lake Wylie, SC; and his sibling's children, Derek Ringering (Kelly), Rachel Wasserman (Michael), Andrew and Olivia Wasserman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 1st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Paynic Home For Funerals (618 E Airline Dr, East Alton, IL 62024). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Angels Catholic Church (345 E Acton Ave, Wood River, IL 62095).
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
