She was predeceased by: her husband David Sherfy; and her parents, James Gates and Verna Gates (Stone). She is survived by: her sister Pat Gates; her sons, James and Chad; and her grandchildren, Garrett, Landon, Hannah, Claire, Lilly and David.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local animal rescue (she often supported Riverbend Humane Society) in Marie's honor.
