With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Saundra Smith (Wood River, Illinois), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 5, 2025 at the age of 83. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Saundra Smith to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Hatcher Sr. and Dorothy Potts; and her husband David Smith. She is survived by: her brothers, Charles (Linda Hatcher) and John (Mary Hatcher); her sister-in-law Louise Hatcher; her children, David Lee Smith of East Alton, Brian K. Smith of Brighton and Chandra; her son-in-law Darin Redden of Brighton; her grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Amanda Bensman (Nick), Steve Smith (Sydnie), Christopher Barron (Brittney), Dillon Barron, Allison Ackerman (Andrew), Danielle Smith, Michael Smith, Danny Redden (Mandy), Annie Redden (Joe Palcheff) and Darin Jr. Redden (Katie); and her nephews, Justin Hatcher and Johnny Kowalis. She is also survived by several great grandchildren, many nieces.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pitchford Funeral Home (2555 Vaughn Rd, Wood River, IL 62095). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to the Activities Department at Liberty Village in Jerseyville and will be accepted at the funeral home.
