She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar "Peck" and Beulah E. Shewmake, Jr. (Hurst); and her brothers, H. J. Shewmake and Jerry Paul Shewmake. She is survived by: her husband Rufus; her sons, Allen Downing (Robin) and Bryon Downing (Debra); her siblings, Pat Weissman, Joy Anton and Bob Shewmake; and her grandchildren, Grant Downing, Adeline Downing, Liam Downing and Evan Downing. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
