She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl L. Meredith and Agnes Meredith (Mays); her former husband Forrest Smith; her daughter-in-law Kathy Smith; her siblings, Robert, Walter Meredith, Lorene Gaston, Mildred Owens and Helen Dean-Gaston; her mother-in-law Blanche Akes; and her pets, Maggie and Molly.
She is survived by: her husband Butch Akes of Xenia; her children, Pam Smith of Xenia, Ginger Rasar (Nick) of Lenoir City, Tennessee, Norman Smith (Tammy McMeen) of Centralia and Timothy Akes (Rose Stewart) of St. Louis, Missouri; her daughter-in-law Danielle Akes of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren, Scott Wooters, Kendra Koch (John), Chelsea Oates (Jacob), Paige Allen, Kristi Brooks (Anthony), Brian Smith (Kimberly), Talon Akes (Megan), Tristan Akes and Jonathon "Race" Rasar; her great grandchildren, Elijah Brooks, Kara Koch, Grant Smith, Natalie Smith, Lauren Smith and Quincy Akes; and her sister-in-law Nancy Coughlin of Xenia.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home (500 N Main St, Flora, IL 62839).
Memorial donations are suggested to the "P.S. I Love You" fund.
