She was predeceased by: her parents, Florencio Salazar and Petra Salazar (Bernal); her former husband Juan Escalante; her husband Edward G. Martinez Sr.; her children, Johnny Escalante and Rosalinda Martinez; and her grandchildren, Nathan Granados, Rosalinda and Josephine Martinez.
She is survived by: her children, Janie Ruiz of Aurora, Carmen Rydberg of Plano, Irene Alvarez of Aurora, Maria "Linda" Schroeder (Richard) of Yorkville, Edward Martinez Jr. (Jane) of Indiana, Carlos Martinez (Ann) of Oswego and George Martinez (Amanda) of Michigan. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren.
