He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Max C. Mason and Thelma Mason; his former wife Betty Jean Etchison; his wife Mary Ellen "Sue" Mize; his daughters, Kelly Smejkal, Mary Danysh of Metropolis and Trish Abney of Los Lunas; and his stepdaughters, Christel Martin of Marion, Melissa Plasters of Christopher and Carol Peterson of Iowa. He was also cherished by 15 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
