We bid farewell to Vernon Lee Ferguson of Zeigler, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 5, 2026 at the age of 91. Vernon touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Douglas and Barbara Lillie Ferguson (Dippie); his wife Wanda Ferguson; his son Vernon Lee Ferguson, Jr.; his grandson Mark D. Ferguson; and his siblings, Judy Norris, Peggy Riggs, Larry Ferguson, Jerry Ferguson, Anna Faye Mormon (Don), JD Ferguson (Greta) and Marvin Ferguson.

He is survived by: his children, Teressa Evetts (Chris) of Herrin, Mark Ferguson (Rebecca) of Spillertown, Sherry Carter (Chris) of Imperial, MO and Kim Hite (Greg) of Marion; his grandchildren, Brandy Kwiatkowski (Steven), Amy Hurd (Mike), Ashley Ferguson, Autumn Sargent (Bobby), Morgan Ferguson, Nevaeh Riddle, Josh Leonard, Alicia Rieger (Don), Cari Carter, Christopher Evetts (Ashley), Amber Akers (Kelton), Cady Riley (Rob), Jonathon Evetts (Madeline), Abbie Carter (Connor), Marlee Carter, Rylee Hite, Alison Hite and Steven Anderson; his brother Jimmy Ferguson of Elgin; and his siblings-in-law, Dewey Hammonds (Stella) of Carterville, Nancy Ferguson of Elgin and Ann Ferguson of Johnston City. He is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren.
