With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Laurel Mae Petersen of Zion, Illinois, who passed away on October 21, 2025 at the age of 99. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As Laurel departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Laurel may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Laurel leaves behind.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Vera Dreyer and Paul Dreyer; her husband Theodore Edwards; and her sisters, Elaine Julian (Wendel), Lucille Noesges (Thomas) and Pearl Nielsen (Don).
She is survived by: her children, Brian Edwards (Betsy), Gary Edwards (Esse), Rhonda Janus (Gary) and Marla Rickert (Chris); and her stepgranddaughters, Mitzi Minerman (Mike), Heather Tepper and Amy Tepper. She is also survived by Many nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Christ Community Church (2500 Dowie Memorial Dr, Zion, IL 60099).
