He is survived by: his cousin Carolyn Nixon; his granddaughter Casey; his wife Sadie Whitaker; his children, Kevin Shafer (Robyn) of The Villages, Florida, Kelly Shafer (Ellen) of New Haven, Kathy Hammond (Chris) of Gilead and Kory Shafer (Amy) of Mexico; his grandchildren, Sara Biggs (Tony), Brian Nider (Ginny), Aric Shafer (Blake), Kelsey Neely (Brian), Madyson Stewart (Josh), Lily Shafer, Lucy Shafer, Avery Fines, Isaac Shafer, Sam Shafer, Wade Fines and Kaylea Shafer; his great grandchildren, Alexandra, Kennedy, Brooklynn, Jackson, Mason, Peyton, Sadie, Sheena and Saylor; his sister Liz Flaherty (Duane) of Deedsville; Sidney.
