He was predeceased by: his father Larry Alfrey. He is survived by: his mother Carol Alfrey; his wife Cindy Alfrey; his daughters, Christina Sarvis (John), Ashley Lacy and Tia Lacy (Stephon); his grandchildren, Kyle Stanley, Javion Lacy, Jaionna Lacy, Tai'Shon Ruffin and Tremell Ruffin; his siblings, Kenny Alfrey (Karen), Sandy Alfrey and Leah Alfrey; his nephews, Justin, Ben, Chris and Ryan; his uncle Kevin Rankel (Kim); and his pet Bella.

“My xondolences to Gary's family, the last I saw him he told me about his situation and said he was going to fight, I am sure he put up the good fight. I am a guy who passed by Gary and we talked many of his working days in the Meijer store. I go round and round and we would usually have a conversation while I was in the store. He was a fine person and I often wondered how he was doing, so sorry to hear he will no longer be there in my walks through the store, I enjoyed our conversations.”
