Though Joan may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herbert Altherr and Edna Altherr (Maiden); and her brothers, Richard Altherr (Rosie) and Ronald Altherr (Gwen). She is survived by: her children, Linda Carpenter (David) of Indianapolis, Diane Pursley (James) of Anderson, Ron Jamison (Kathy) of Prosper, TX and Don Jamison (Tara) of Port Charlotte, FL. She is also survived by 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
She sewed bags, which would then be used as totes and purses for the Battered Women's Shelter to provide for women who were victims of abuse, and then filled them with personal items before donating them.
