He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Riffey and Florence Riffey (Boots); his wives, Ruth Bowman and Janet Miller of Arcanum, Ohio.; his sons, John and Samuel; his brother Charles; his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Riffey and Martha Riffey; his sister Carolene; and his great grandchildren, Wyatt Brubaker and Joseph Garber.
He is survived by: his children, Melvin (Connie), Rachel Princell (Bruce), James (Jennie), Mark (Karen), Jesse (Patricia), Nancy Beery (Tom), Gerald (Nadine), Virginia Brooks (Doug) and Darryl (Jennifer).
