Sylvia leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Sylvia’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Sylvia will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ira Wainscott and Nellie Wainscott; and her siblings, Chris Wainscott (Betty), Scottie Wainscott (Lenora), Sue Weaver (Joe) and Betty Jo Zott (Neal).
She is survived by: her husband Fred McCowan; her daughter Kristi Utley of Indianapolis; and her grandson Samuel Utley of Burbank, CA.. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory (200 W 53rd St, Anderson, IN 46013). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
