James R. Thatcher Obituary

It is with sadness that the passing of James R. Thatcher of Angola, Indiana is shared. James, born on November 17, 1940, passed away on August 24, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Thatcher and Gilletta Thatcher (Smith); and his grandson Eric Bakies. He is survived by: his children, Betsy Bakies (Mike) and James S. Thatcher; his grandchildren, Haley Burgderfer (Shawn), Britney Richmond, Jimmy, Megan and Marissa Thatcher; his great grandchildren, Ellie and Ruby; and his sisters, Cindie McCulloch (Dave) and Linda Guy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim's honor Fort Wayne VA Medical Center.
