It is with great sadness that we announce the death of William Ray Sumney of Angola, Indiana, who passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Weldon R. Sumney and Esther S. Sumney (Goeglein); his wives, Phyllis Sumney (Bremer) and Betty Cope Sumney (Vaughn); and his siblings, Wanda Etler, Robert Sumney Sr. and Eugene Sumney.

He is survived by: his children, Barb Schroeder (Steve) of Zionsville, Lisa Stockwell (Kevin) of Hudson and William "Ross" Sumney (Tami) of Angola, Indiana; his grandchildren, Heidi Schroeder, Kyle Stockwell (Ashley) and Laura VanRoessel (Joris); and his close friend Alice Hughes of Angola, Indiana.. He is also survived by his 7 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 355 E. State Road 120, Fremont, IN 46737.
