He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Mitton and Margaret Mitton (Dill); his sons, Kevin Mitton, Brad Thompson and Brian Mitton; and his grandson Troy Holycross.

He is survived by : his wife Nancy A. Thompson (Miller); his children, Jeff Mitton (Lisa), Mark Thompson (Brenda) and Debra Groleau (Les); his siblings, Judy Clawson and Mike Mitton (Rhonda); and his grandchildren, Amber Ray, Travis Blankenship (Courtney), Taylor Thompson, Krystal Kessler (Jared), Stephanie Gerlech (Martin), Jarrica Berger (Adam), Nicole Crain (James), Nathan Mitton, Joshua Mitton (Paige), Kimberly, Meghan Grant (Devin), Staci Key (James Clinton) and Kelli. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
