She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Francis and Hildred Louise Dobbels (Grandstaff); her daughter Marlena K. Smart; her brother Terry Dobbels; and her grandson Brandon Smart.
She is survived by: her children, Terrietta Mowery, Donald Smart Jr. (Zoe) of Decatur, IL, Johnnie Smart (Companion-Karyl Patterson) and Jackie Smart (Valerie); and her sister Henrietta Gick. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
