He was predeceased by : his parents, Elza Simpton and Lilly Caldwell (Ramsey). He is survived by : his wife Rosaleita "Rose" Caldwell of Garrett, IN; his sons, Gilbert Caldwell Jr. of Garrett, IN and Kevin Caldwell (Lori) of Ashley, IN; and his stepsiblings, Gilbert L. Caldwell of Moorehead, KY and Violet Reed of London, KY. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home (1277 Co Rd 56, Garrett, IN 46738). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 29th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
