He was predeceased by: his parents, John Harter and Violet Harter (Cook); his siblings, Charles Harter, Michael Harter and Johnette Billings; and his granddaughter Taylor Kilgore-Harter.
He is survived by: his sons, Greg Harter of Auburn, Doug Harter (Lisa) of Auburn and Scott Harter (Angela) of Fort Wayne; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Harter, Emily Schuster (Robert), Megan Bailey (Brian), Samantha Harter and Amanda Harter; his brother James Harter (Ann) of Brownsburg; and his sisters-in-law, Lucy Harter of Columbia City and Cindy Harter of Leo. He is also survived by 5 great granddaughters and one great grandson.
