We announce the death of Sylvia Marie Decker of Austin, Indiana, who passed away on October 29, 2026, at the age of 91. Sylvia will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Decker and Mary Liza Decker; her husband Sherman Decker; her children, Sherman Wayne Decker and Marsha Sanford; her grandson Michael Shawn Bannister; and her siblings, Shelt, Nathan, Chester, Carl, Norma Jean and Patricia.
She is survived by: her children, Ronnie Decker (Theresa) and Sheila Morris (John); her daughter-in-law Barbara Decker; her grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley Decker, Jeremy, Kristin Bannister, Brittany, Shooter Hardin, Leslie Sanford, Melissa, Jason Foster, Tina Decker, Scott, Sammi Harmon and Julie; her siblings, Cora Adams, Melissa Helton and Bruce Barger; and her close friend Debbie Colwell. She is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Grace Covenant Church of God (75 W Main St, Austin, IN 47102). A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
