Max left this world on May 5, 2025 at the age of 88, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Merlin Whonsetler and Mary Whonsetler (Simon); his wife Mary VanGorder; his daughter Vickie Martin; his grandson Jeb Smith; and his brother Tom Whonsetler.
He is survived by: his children, Stan Whonsetler (Lana) of Avilla and Kathleen Smith (Jeffery) of Kendallville; his grandchildren, Angelia Clark (Deron), Matthew Whonsetler, Heather Mary Smith and Jeffrey Smith Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Dathan Clark, Davis Clark and Knox Smith.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, May 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Harper Funeral Homes - Avilla Chapel (530 N Main St, Avilla, IN 46710). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
