He was predeceased by : his parents, Swede Hjelmeng and Lois Hjelmeng; his brothers-in-law, James Meylor and Gary Larson; his parents-in-law, Leonard and Hanna Michelson; and his sister-in-law Tam Michelson.

He is survived by : his wife Maren (Michelson); his son Craig Hjelmeng (Johnna); his grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan (London), Denielle, Jalen, Noah, Caleb and Christopher; his children, Taylor (Nic), Tanner, Torrey, Teagen and Caden; his sisters, Lynn Larson and Kay Meylor; and his son Jeff Ulrich (Connie).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 11th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Embassy Suites (6089 Clarks Creek Rd, Plainfield, IN 46168).
