He was predeceased by: his parents, James T. Whiten and Hazel Whiten (Baker); his wife Candy West; his son James Edward Whiten; his stepsons, Chris and Drew West; and his granddaughter Grace Harper Whiten.
He is survived by: his sister Carol Dolder; his children, Scott Whiten (Mariel), Renee Lopez and Melissa Brown (Thomas); his stepson Ben West (Stacey); his daughter-in-law Jodie Harper; and his grandchildren, Brianna Lopez, Alex Whiten, Millie Brown, Tess Brown, Bailey West, Teagen West, Liam West, Rowan West and Tristen West. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Lee's honor may be made to the American Lung Association, American Cancer Society or St. Christopher's Catholic Church.
