She was predeceased by: her parents, Wendall W. Smitherman and Lois C. Beck Smitherman; and her siblings, Joe Smitherman, John Smitherman (Shirley), Mark Smitherman and Bonnie Covey (Tony).
She is survived by: her children, William W. (Lisa) of Indianapolis, Sara Fifer (Scott) of Brownsburg and Susan Benjamin (Lee) of Carmel; her grandsons, David Fifer (Erin) of Fishers and Jon Benjamin (Ashley) of Pendleton; her children, Rebecca Fifer-Grimes (Preston) of Indianapolis, Abbey Benjamin (Danny), Aaron Benjamin (Libbie) and Adam Benjamin (Mackenzie); and her brother Marvin Smitherman (Colleen) of Mount Pleasant. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Helton & Harris Funeral Home-Danville (102 S Indiana St, Danville, IN 46122). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 at 2:15 PM at the Coatesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse.
