He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Berton Payne and Mary Jane Payne Byers (Long); his wife Donna Joy Payne (Slof); and his brother John Michael Payne. He is survived by: his children, Edward Ryan Payne of Indianapolis, IN and Stephanie Leigh Thompson (Steven Thompson) of Murrells Inlet, SC; and his grandsons, Maxwell Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC and Mitchell Thompson (Karen (Henderson) Brummett) of Murrells Inlet, SC.
