Genarose C. Merkel Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Genarose C. Merkel of Batesville, Indiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 5, 2025 at the age of 88. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Genarose C. Merkel to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Huenefeld and Marian Huenefeld (Wuestefeld); and her sisters, Bernadine Brinkman and Marie Herbert. She is survived by: her husband Leo Merkel of Batesville; her children, Carol Prickel (Michael) of Batesville, Janet Dawes (Chris) of Indianapolis, Mari Jo Moody (Ryan) of Batesville, Randy Merkel (Karen) of Batesville and Rick Merkel (Kimberly) of Batesville; and her sisters, Helen Strasser of Falmouth and Loretta Wolf of Mason, Ohio. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Weigel Funeral Home (151 W George St, Batesville, IN 47006). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony's Church (4755 E. Morris Church Street, Batesville, IN 47006).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice or St. Anthony's Cemetery Fund.
