He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey J. Smith and Velma Smith (Holwadel); his stepmother Thelma Bertram; his brother Wilbur; his sister-in-law Edith Zimmer (Smith); and his brother Paul Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia; his children, Michael Smith and Beth Smith (PJ Weisenbach) of Batesville; his granddaughter Stephanie Smith of Chesterton, Indiana; and his siblings-in-law, Ralph Zimmer and Judy Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, August 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Meyers Funeral Home (1150 IN-46, Batesville, IN 47006). A funeral service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Batesville United Methodist Church (106 S Park Ave, Batesville, IN 47006).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Batesville United Methodist Church.
