He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilburn Speer and Mary Inez Speer (Morrison); and his brothers-in-law, Wendell Bailey, Jack Case and Jerry Hall.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Speer (Case); his sons, Jeff Speer (Jenny), Jason Speer (Julie) and Jerod Speer (Alexis); his grandchildren, Zachery, Tristan, Trey, Rex, Jett, Dash and Winnie; his great grandchildren, Maddison, Maverick, Kendall, Jamesen and Paityn; his mother-in-law Nona Case; his sister Carolyn Hall; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Case, Beverly Bailey and Carla Case. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
